ABSTRACT
In addition to the Leg 162 scientific results presented in this volume, a number of outstanding studies by shipboard
scientists have been published in journals. These include five papers published in either Science or Nature, a measure
of the impact that results from this leg and these investigators have had within the scientific community. Highlights
from these publications are summarized below. In conjunction with this volume, these studies comprise the initial body
of scientific results from Leg 162. The list of these studies was prepared April 1999 and will be updated on the Ocean
Drilling Program Web site (http://www-odp.tamu.edu/publications/) as new papers are published.
